The name of the new captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has finally been revealed. Faf du Plessis of South Africa has been named as the team’s new captain by RCB. Virat Kohli will be replaced by him. Kohli announced last year, just before the second phase of the IPL, that he would not captain the team in the following season. RCB will have their seventh captain in Duplessis.
Prior to Duplessis, the team was captained by Rahul Dravid, Kevin Pietersen, Anil Kumble, Daniel Vettori, Virat Kohli, and Shane Watson. Duplessis will be the first South African captain in RCB’s history. Prior to this, he was a long-time member of the Chennai Super Kings team. Four titles have been won by the Chennai team. It remains to be seen whether Duplessis’ RCB team can win the title for the first time.
What did Duplessis have to say about his promotion to captain?
Thank you for making me captain, said Faf du Plessis. I’ve participated in numerous IPL matches. Any foreign player is difficult to trust. I am grateful to RCB for considering me deserving of their attention. Virat Kohli, on the other hand, commented on Faf du Plessis’ appointment as captain, saying, “I’m excited to take the field under his leadership. I’m ready to work with him in a more productive way.”
