Ranji Trophy: Cheteshwar Pujara showed his strength against Mumbai

Cheteshwar Pujara has been omitted from the Sri Lankan Test series. Since January 2019, Pujara has failed to score a century in a Test match. He was the one who took the brunt of it, and the selectors kicked him out of the team. Pujara played a strong innings in the Ranji Trophy after being cut from the Indian team. While playing for Saurashtra against Mumbai, he scored 91 runs in 83 balls.

Pujara has made a remarkable comeback after failing to score in the first innings. He had a strike rate of 109.64 percent. He hit 16 fours and a six during this time. Apart from Pujara, wicketkeeper Snell Patel failed to reach the century mark. He amassed a total of 98 runs. In his 155 pitches, he hit 11 fours. His bat also produced a six. In 149 balls, Harvik Desai scored 62 runs.

Chetan Sharma, chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), said on Saturday (February 20) that Rahane and Pujara had been informed of their exclusion from the two Tests against Sri Lanka. He’d stated, “Rahane and Pujara were given a lot of thought by the selection committee. We told them that we would not consider them as a threat to Sri Lanka, but that they could come in any time. We’ve asked them to participate in the Ranji Trophy.”

Rahane and Pujara, according to the chairman of the selection committee, “They have given so much to the country. They have the option to return. A graph represents a person’s career. Rahane hit a century against Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy yesterday. Who wouldn’t be overjoyed if he returned?”

When it comes to the Ranji Trophy, the competition is split into two parts. After the first and second phases of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the first phase will be played. On March 15, the first phase will come to an end. After the IPL, the second phase will take place from May 30 to June 26. In the Ranji Trophy this season, 64 matches will be played in 62 days.
