The District Collector in Rajasthan’s Kota district has issued orders to implement Section 144 beginning at 6 a.m. on Tuesday. According to the order issued on Monday, Section 144 will be in effect in Kota from March 22 to April 21 to maintain law and order during the screening of “The Kashmir Files.” Vivek Agnihotri, the film’s director, has filed a strong protest against the restrictions.
The director of ‘The Kashmir Files,’ Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, took to social media to demand that Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot intervene in the matter. “Dear Anurag Thakur ji, if a film on ‘Right to Justice’ is thwarted by the state in a democracy, then what should we think of justice?” Vivek Agnihotri wrote on Twitter.
Apart from that, Vivek Agnihotri tagged the Chief Minister and said, “Dear Ashok Gehlot ji, terrorists’ only power is to create fear, and we get scared.” ‘It’s time for justice for you,’ the director wrote to the audience of ‘The Kashmir Files.’
The Acting District Collector explains why Section 144 was imposed in Kota by stating that communally sensitive festivals such as Chetichand, Mahavir Jayanti, Good Friday, Jumatul Vida, and Baisakhi will be celebrated in the coming days. In addition, Vivek Agnihotri will be seen in movie theatres. It is critical to maintain law and order in light of the upcoming screening of the film “The Kashmir Files.”
